Welcome to the home page of Gordzilla’s Blues web site. This web site was established to pay homage to the independence philosophy of the blues. It is not officially affiliated with or in competition with any blues organization. It is operated by individual(s) who love blues and respect its independent values. One must learn to appreciate the value of independence in the blues to understand the music, promote it and keep it alive.

Blues is an independent music form allowing musicians a powerful means of self expression and freedom. Blues is perhaps the most misunderstood and misjudged music in American history. Since its foundation, there has not been any music influencing life as Blues. It is essential to understand the roots of the Blues and its bond to nearly every form of modern music. Quite simply, ALL modern music placing the individual above the group is a direct descendant of the Blues: jazz, rock, doo wop, funk, rap, etc.

Breaking Bread with the Blues began in 2004 as a fundraiser for the Capital Area Blues Society. However it soon became evident the event could also be used to help the local community by supporting the food bank. Now more than ever, we need to support this important community event!

Admission is $10 at the door plus a food item, but attendees are encouraged to donate as many nonperishable food items as they can. Families are welcome and children (under age 16) with an adult are admitted free with a food donation.
